Private Spinal Fusion Surgery for Canadians
A fusion recommendation usually arrives after months of imaging, injections and physio. What comes next shouldn’t be another long stretch of waiting. Immediate Surgery arranges private spinal fusion with experienced spine surgeons, starting without a referral and moving you toward expedited access to surgery.
- ESpeak with our intake team within 1–2 days.
- EHave your fusion plan reviewed by a spine specialist.
- EExpedited access to surgery, at home or abroad.
Your spine has been assessed. Now it needs a plan.
- EYour MRI, standing X-rays and consult notes are gathered and sent to the right spine surgeon, so the review starts with the full picture.
- ESteps that often happen one after another, like updated imaging, bone density testing and medical clearance, are arranged side by side where possible.
- EFusion raises more questions than most spine surgeries: whether to fuse, how many levels, and which approach. You get a specialist who can answer all three.

Matched by Procedure & Complexity
Spinal Fusion for Complex and Revision Cases
Where your fusion happens depends on your case. For some patients the best fit is a private surgeon in another province. For others, especially multi-level, deformity or revision cases, it’s a high-volume spine center in the USA or Europe. We lay out the realistic options side by side, then coordinate the one you choose.
Understanding Your Surgical Options
Fusion Options Based on What’s Causing Your Pain
A spinal fusion in the neck and a fusion in the lower back are planned very differently. So are fusions done from the front, the side or the back. Your surgeon considers which levels are involved, your bone quality and any past surgery before recommending an approach. We help you understand that recommendation before anything is booked.
We can help you explore care for:
- NDegenerative disc disease
- NSpondylolisthesis
- NSpinal instability
- NStenosis with slippage or instability
- NCervical disc disease & myelopathy
- NScoliosis & degenerative deformity
- NLumbar fusion
- NMulti-level fusion
- NRevision fusion
Expedited access to spinal fusion.
A fusion needs a recovery plan before the surgery date is set. We arrange your stay near the surgical center, your travel home once your surgeon clears it, and the hand-off to your physiotherapist and family doctor.

“My case manager booked my bone scan, my flights and my recovery hotel. I only had one person to call and a dedicated point of contact.”

“I’d been told I needed a 2 level fusion & had no idea what that really meant. My surgeon walked me through every screw on the X-ray.”

“The first plan I was given was a fusion. The specialist explained why decompression alone suited my case better, and I trusted that.”

SURGICAL EXPERTISE MEETS TECHNOLOGY
Precise screw placement starts with better imaging
A fusion is only as good as its alignment and fixation. Our network includes spine programs that plan each fusion from full-length standing X-rays and guide screw placement with intraoperative imaging. For eligible patients, that can widen the options beyond a traditional open fusion.
- NIntraoperative CT and navigation to guide screw placement.
- NContinuous nerve monitoring throughout surgery.
- NAnterior, lateral or posterior access chosen to suit your anatomy.
- NExpandable and 3D-printed interbody cages that support between vertebrae.

Questions about private spine fusion surgery.
Do I actually need a fusion, or would decompression alone be enough?
It depends on why your nerves are compressed and whether the spine is stable. If a vertebra is slipping, or removing bone to relieve pressure would leave the segment unstable, fusion is often recommended alongside decompression. If the spine is stable, decompression alone may be enough. A spine specialist makes that call from your imaging, symptoms and examination, and it's a reasonable thing to want a second view on.
Why do surgeons want standing and flexion-extension X-rays, not just my MRI?
An MRI is taken lying down, so it shows nerves and discs well but can hide movement. Standing X-rays show how your spine carries weight, and flexion-extension views show whether a segment shifts when you bend. That movement is often what decides whether fusion is needed and how many levels to include.
Will my fusion be done from the front, the side or the back?
That depends on the levels involved, your anatomy and what the fusion needs to achieve. Anterior approaches are common in the neck and at the lowest lumbar levels. Lateral approaches suit certain mid-lumbar levels. Posterior approaches allow decompression and fixation through the same incision. Your surgeon explains the reasoning before you agree to a plan.
Why did my surgeon asked for a bone density scan?
A fusion relies on bone healing across the treated levels, and screws need solid bone to hold. Low bone density can affect both. If a scan shows reduced density, your surgeon may adjust the hardware, recommend treatment before surgery or reconsider the plan. Smoking and some medical conditions can also affect healing, so they're reviewed at the same time.
Will a fusion limit how I move?
Somewhat, and how much depends on how many levels are fused and where. A single-level lumbar fusion often has a modest effect on everyday movement. Longer fusions, such as those for scoliosis, limit more. Your surgeon can also discuss the extra load placed on neighbouring levels over time, and whether a motion-preserving option is worth considering in your case.
