Questions about our private surgery procedures.
Do I need a referral to arrange private surgery?
No. You can contact Your Surgery Advocate directly. Share your diagnosis, symptoms and any records you have, and our team will review your case and match you with a suitable surgeon. With your permission, we can also work alongside your family doctor or specialist.
My surgical procedure isn't listed here, can you still help?
Possibly. Our network includes over 4,000 top-tier specialists and 50 Centres of Excellence, so we support more procedures than we can list here. Share your case and our team will review it. If we can’t find a suitable surgeon or facility, we’ll tell you plainly.
Can I have private surgery in my own province?
Sometimes. Rules vary by province and by procedure. Depending on your case, your options may include a private facility in your province, an accredited facility in another province, or a specialist centre in the USA or Europe. We’ll walk you through the options that fit your needs.
How much does private surgery cost?
Private surgery costs vary by procedure, surgeon, facility, length of stay and travel. For many procedures, we organize a formal Request for Proposals, inviting esteemed providers to submit competitive proposals while prioritizing clinical quality. You’ll receive an itemized estimate before you commit, and our advisors can help you understand out-of-pocket costs, financing options and potential insurance coverage.
How quickly can things move once I contact you?
Your intake consultation with our team happens within one to two days. That first conversation is with us, not a surgeon. It's where we learn your history and what you need. From there, the pace depends on your procedure, the records you already have and whether more tests are needed. We expedite every step we can: getting your case to the right specialist, booking assessments in parallel, and keeping scheduling in one place.
Can I explore private surgery while I'm on a public waitlist?
Yes, and many patients do. Sharing your case and having a specialist review it doesn't require giving up your place in the public system. If you decide to go ahead privately, let your provincial care team know so they can update your file. We'll make sure the records from your private surgery are available to your physicians at home.
Start your care journey.
Send us a few details about your surgical needs. Our intake team will follow up within 24 – 48 hours to schedule a one-hour consultation.
